Hurst Review for NCLEX

Published

Hi all! I just finished my program in December and am patiently (ok, impatiently) awaiting my ATT! I've become very paranoid over the past couple of weeks regarding my preparedness for the NCLEX. I've started my studying and i'm using Saunders comprehensive review book and the CD as well as NCLEX 4000 and ATI practice tests but my anxiety is at an all time high and I feel I will NEVER be prepared for this test no matter how long I wait to take it (I'm thinking mid-Feb if availability allows it). My cousin recommended the Hurst Review and I watched the sample lectures... it seems like it would be a good review. I was just wondering if anyone has used this and if so how you felt about it. There's an in-class session coming up in my area or I would do the online sessions. Is it worth the money?? How does it compare to the Kaplan review? Thanks for your help! And let's hope I get my ATT soon before I'm hospitalized for an anxiety attack!

Lots of opinions in the NCLEX forum. Most people praise the Hurst program.

Used it my whole study group did it and we all passed boards the first time LOVED it!

Thanks! Did you use the online one or the live one?

I used the Live review but for they are the samething you watch the videos from online in class and online you have to print the notebook yourself vs. live you get it that day that they give you. Online if you were a hybrid student its awesome cause you do it on your time and don;t have to go to class. Live you get to be with peer and have more of the traditional classroom feel it just depends on what type of learner you are. But I LOVED the class still look over my notes time to time just cause its great INFO! Best wishes with your Nclex! And Congrats on Graduating!

I am actually doing the online hurst review now and I am loving it so far. I hope to pass the first time!

I did the online Hurst review and found it quite helpful. It's quite expensive if I remember correctly, but you could always establish a study group to commit to watching the lectures together and cut the costs, I suppose. There were some cheesy skits involved, and that woman's accent was somewhat annoying at times, but overall I thought it was a tool worth having in my toolbelt! Good luck to you. Let us know how it works out for you.

Those of you who used Hurst Review did you feel that it provided an adequate amount of information? -- Our school required us to take the class, and while I liked it and found some of their ways to remember things very helpful, I didn't feel like it was enough -- Did others feel this way or is this just me (I'm one of those detail-obsessed types so I wouldn't be surprised if this is just personal preference issue)

I am an international BSN graduate. I took NCLEX thrice and used Kaplan, NCSBN and Hurst. I used Kaplan and NCSBN on my first and 2nd try and failed. On my thrid try, I took Hurst online but didnt follow the whole thing. I failed but my scores were really high: A big difference for the once I reviewed with Kaplan and NCSBN. Hope this helps :)
