open units:

Cardiothoracic Unit 5W

Med/Surg

Med/Surg/Tele

Medical/Telemetry Sta. 45 (Short Stay Observation Unit)

Medicine/Oncology

it is ICU only 

you can apply for both, but if you list it in your letter of intent and they interview you they will ask what your preference is.

I've been told that it depends on what the need of the department is and how many preceptors they have available. Most specialty units hire around 5 most to 1 the least.
