Hello all,
I'm starting this thread for the new applicants for the hrsa nursing scholarship 09-10. Tor prettylady, I think its a random selection. Its the luck of the draw.
I noticed that some people have been contacted without receiving any notification between the email in September and the acceptance letter this past week. I wonder what is going on for those of us who have not received letters yet. I wonder if some were selected as alternates, and they are waiting for some sort of correspondence back from the finalists. It would make sense though for them to already figure out all of the finalists because that would have been the point of the email. I do not know what to expect! I know I could really use this scholarship...as we all could. Good luck to everyone, and congratulations to those that already have been notified as a finalist. Much easier said than done, but in the end, this struggle will be worth it for all of us. Hoping for good news this week!
i just noticed this on the website they say they normally give out 180 scholarships total and if you take that and divide it by the 50 states it averages to basically each state awarding3.6 roughly 4 people each state i wish i was aware of the numbers before i had applied. oh well all things work together for Good for those that trust in the Lord.
runner4life123,
i did not receive an finalist/alternate email. i may be wrong but it seems to me that those that did not get an email, did not have a chance of receiving the scholarship, and (at least so far), those that did receive the email, did receive the scholarship. i hope that all those that received an email are awarded their scholarship soon! :)

I did receive a finalist email in Sept. and as most of you did I replied with a fax. I live in Nebraska. I did move and called the call center to change my address, and they told me not to worry about it til further correspondence which is why I think it is taking longer to receive any type of notification. Correct me if I'm wrong, I think someone received a letter in California. I have no idea, maybe they have a method to this madsness. Also, I agree that the process may not be completely random, because it would benefit the gov't to accept those with the least amount of schooling left or less expensive tuition (this way they can give away more scholarships).
