Is anybody else applying to HCC traditional RN program for this upcoming Fall 2017?
I'm out of county as well.
First lottery is the end of March, it's for people who completed all their pre-reqs.
Second lottery is sometime in June, it's for "Spring finisher" who are currently completing pre-reqs.
You get priority if you're in HOCO then out of county and so on.
Idk if I read/heard this right, but supposedly the more co-reqs/pre-reqs you have completed it is a higher chance you'll get in.
Hello everyone
I was sent my acceptance letter yesterday (March 9th, 2017) and it was post-marked March 8th 2017. I was quite surprised on the speediness of delivery. I checked my HCC email shortly after and did not see an email with information about my acceptance. The letter itself contains information about orientation and the $300 acceptance fee/form.
For anyone that is wondering, I hope the following info. helps you:
I am a Baltimore County resident. I've completed all of my pre and co-requisites. I attended two colleges before applying to Howard Community College and my cumulative/overall GPA is a 3.2 (all of my required pre/co-requisites were accepted by Howard CC). I don't know if it made any difference in the lottery process; however, I received a B in A&P I, A in A&P II, B in Microbiology, and B in Chem. I applied with a HESI score of 84%.
Prior to applying, I attended a Nursing Info. Session at Howard CC. After the session, I met with an advisor to ask any specific questions I had about the program itself. I found attending the info. session helpful in swaying my decision to apply to Howard CC. I recommend attending one if you are interested in their program.
Hi Tera90
I personally found page 2 of HCC's RN Program Planning Sheet helped with my questions about the waiting list. This is directly quoted from that page.
Please see below:
Selection of Studentsï‚· Qualified applicants from previous year's waitlist have priority
ï‚· Lotteries are held whenever the number of qualified new applicants exceeds the number of available seats
ï‚· First lottery is held in March for applicants who have completed all requirements by February 15
ï‚· Second lottery is held in June for applicants who are completing admission requirements during the Spring term
ï‚· Within each lottery, students are selected in the following order:
1. Howard County residents
2. In-state, out-of-county residents
3. Out-of-state residents
4. International citizens (F-1 students are not currently eligible to apply)
ï‚· Priority is given to students who have completed fourth science course and PSYC-101
ï‚· Applicants' names are randomly selected and each qualified applicant is offered a seat or assigned a waitlist
number based upon order of selection
ï‚· As seats become available, waitlist students will be admitted into the program
ï‚· RN Evening/Weekend program starts in Fall only; applicants waitlisted for RN Day program may be offered Spring seats
ï‚· Waitlist rolls over from year to year
Hope this helps!
