Howard COMMUNITY COLLEGE ACCELERATED 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I'm fairly new to Maryland and Ive recently applied to HCC accelerated nursing program and traditional. All my paperwork is in except for my HESI A2; I have to wait till 2/8 to take it due to no spots available. Anyone with any reviews, experiences, or in the same boat as me? I'm super nervous about this whole process.

I'm finishing the accelerated program in August, fingers crossed if I finish.

You will definitely be making it across that finish line in August! Do you have any suggestions on how to make it through the program? studying tips? sanity tips? lol

There's just sooo sooo very much to learn that it's hard to give any suggestions, you just have to experience it and learn as you go and adapt. I'm not gonna lie I'm so spent mentally even thinking of something to write you is tiring me because I have to get back to studying. I have two 10 hour clinicals two day in a row and lecture 9a to 3p two days and skills practice, sim, a million chapters....

It's frankly going to take a miracle for me to survive...

Sorry ask me again in a few hours or days and my mind might be positive, had the hardest exam of my life yesterday for pediatrics. We lost another few students who will most likely not make it, they are dropping like flies.

I Studied >12 hours a day for two weeks straight morning to night and barely got a C. Papers, care plans, ..... I'm losing my mind and stressed sorry ranting on you for a while there.

Either way good luck.

P.S. I'm in love with patient care/effecting people lives if only for a brief moment & nursing is truly amazing. The individual has to decide if the mountain of responsibility and stress is worth it in the end, I still have to decide that myself.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it. Ouch, I hear it's pretty grueling! No worries, rant away..we are hear to support and share our stories. I'll be in your shoes shortly and I WILL be venting as much as possible (my best coping mechanism lol). Thank you on the well wishes and best of luck on finishing up strong!

Hi,

im an out of county resident( PG county). I applied for the evening/ weekend program for Fall 2018. I spoke to an advisor who told there are 7 people on the waitlist for the traditional day program and 10 people on the waitlist for the evening program. Luckily for me, the list rolls over from year to year, she said I might not get in this year. Has anyone out of county been pulled from the waitlist? Any advice would be helpful.

I'm a transfer student so I don't have much info on the nursing program. However, I do follow the hcc facebook page and I've seen a few people discuss getting in while being on the waitlist but most say they get in on the next go around.

Made it and waiting for my approval to take the NCLEX,... One thing I learned is I studied really hard for the exit HESI, and then really focus on reading the question clearly and think about what they are asking about and whats the best answer for the given situation. They want you to be able to analyze the question REALLY well, if you do that and know the pathology's (all of them.) you will be fine :)
