The only thing I really try to avoid is having just one night off. I prefer to do three in a row and usually schedule myself that way, but I'm also okay with 2 on, 2 off, 1 on, 2 off, etc. One night off is just killer though. Two nights off feels like two nights off (and three feels like three, etc), but one night off feels like no night off, if that makes sense.
ETA: I will schedule myself up to six nights in a row to get a long stretches off. I do four in a row fairly regularly, only do five if I have to in order to go out of town or something, and have done six to go out of town but it really, really sucks. Three to four is my sweet spot. And then when I get a one nighter or two nighter it feels like hardly anything which is nice.
