who are these dreaded "state employees" that come into our jobs and cause everyone to freak out? I know they are surveyors of sorts but how do I become one? what is their officials job title? what is a day on the job like? if you are one or know someone who is one I am interested in hearing your stories!!

Specializes in Med Surg, Tele, PH, CM.

THey are most likely working for the State Health Department as UR or QA people. I work for the State as a Case Manager, but I also do QA and UR of sorts. I review medical records belonging to my patients, identify disparities and point them out to the provider. These types of jobs are found in any type of facility, including hospitals. We are not out to "freak out" anyone, I see my job as being a patient advocate, making sure they are getting proper care.

Specializes in Geriatrics, WCC.

The openings are posted on the state website and can be applied for through there.
