How useful would a Spanish major be?

Nurses General Nursing

I am a senior nursing student. I have been working toward a double major in nursing and spanish and only have one more class left for my spanish degree but it is in English and will take away from my time spent on nursing classes. Is a spanish major really worth it or is the knowledge of the language just as useful when looking for a job?

Specializes in NICU/Neonatal transport.

My first degree is in Spanish and international studies and everyone is excited at my hospital, because it's nice to have a staff member fluent in spanish. (now I just need to learn Somali)

Hi that is really neat, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I am also a prenursing student at UTA in Texas, also going for a double major in Spanish and Nursing... just glad to know that it is doable and be worth it as well. :D

I don't know if it's feasible in this economy, but I think certainly during the nursing shortage of years past, you might be able to swing a significant pay jump since you could effectively work as both a nurse and an official translator.
