How are you treated by RNs

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello. I am considering attending school to become an LPN. Once on the job, how do RNs treat you? I am afraid they would look down on LPNs and give them all their extra work to do. Is this a correct assumption? Also, where do most LPNs work? Nursing homes? Hospitals? Any information would be great appreciated.

Specializes in floor to ICU.

Last year they polled the workers in our hospital "why do you stay with us?". The #1 answer was "I like the people I work with".

Life is too short.

:yeahthat:

hello and god bless. i have been a lpn now for over 10 years and am loving it. i am very proud to call myself a lpn. the only reason i am pursueing my rn is because of the money. i wouldn't change becoming a lpn first for anything. some rns feel that lpns are nothing and you have some who treasure us. be confident in what you do and you will even have some rns envious of you. do not let anyone get you down. if lpn is your goal right now, then proceed with that. i have found being a cna, then lpn first very rewarding. once you become a lpn, do not let anyone try to make you second guess yourself, because they will try. hold your head up and be the best lpn you can be. take care.
