How tough is the Entrance exam for nursing?

Published

Just curious as to what it is like. It will be awhile before I am ready to take it. Is it somewhat like the TASP test? Is it just english, reading and math or what?

Has anyone had to take it more than once?

Are you taking the NET? If so, it wasn't too bad. Comprehensive reading, math (percentages & fractions), and some grammar.

The places I am applying give the Hesi A2. I just ordered the study guide, and got it in this week. I was really worried about the math, but it looks pretty basic (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Ratios, and precents). NO ALGEBRA (YOOHOO)!!!! I have heard the vocabulary was hard, but the words are everyday words I already know. The study guide has a lot on parts of speech that I am trying to brush up on because its been years, and we didn't really do that in college english class I took. It looks like the Anatomy is going to be the hardest, but they outline what they will cover, and I plan on going over all of it until its second nature. I am taking it in late Aug so I will let you know. Good luck with your test.

The test I will be taking is called TEAS. Its weird they all have different names. LOL Hopefully it wont be to bad. I am suprized they test you on A&P for just the entrance exam.

I took the TEAS test this spring. There is a study guide available and a website to help you study. www.testpreview.com These two sources will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. And for the record----it is kind of hard!!!

What school are you applying too? My school requires the hesi but you only have to test in reading, math, and grammar. No science! whoo hoo

I had to take the NLN pre-entrance exam. 3 times and I just got my scores today and I think I should be in the program!!!

Verbal & Reading Comp, Math & Science. Get the NLN study guide and study it good!!! It isn't easy, but if you study, at least you can say you tried and eventually, you will do well if not the first time.

Good luck!

 I applied at Ivy Tech (a Community College in Indiana). I was tested over Math--alg, trig, geo, and metric convers. English--punc., spelling, and sent structure. Reading--comp. Science--earth, bio, chem, physics, ana & phys, and micro. The science was the toughest for me because it had all aspects of the subject. Hope this helps! Coco;)

The N entrance exam I took was ok. They gave us too many questions with not enough time. For the math portion we were not suppose to use calculators so you have to get used to doing math prob. without one. The spelling portion just read the dictionary on how to spell words. Or try to study on whether words end with and or end, stuff like that.
