How To Be Nurse Abroad If You Have No Money?

Published

I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines.. I took my nursing board examination last year by the month of December. I have high hopes that if I become a Registered Nurse it will be alot easier for me to land a job. But then, just several months after the results came out, after the overwhelming news that I passed the exam, now I realized a bitter truth that your financial problems will not go away after the NLE, you would then have to face another set of exams, that are more expensive than the local licensure exam. With this, I dont know what to do next.. without any one to sponsor me and willing to help me take these exams how would I move on to the next level. Secondly, Philippines is the major country that supplies nurses abroad, meaning there's a lot of nurses in this country which makes it hard for us to land a job and gain experience which is the major requirement of countries like US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. After you take the exams, you still have to have money for your deployment which in countries like australia you still have to have clinical test for 1 month with all expenses shouldered by the applicant. WHATTT?? How will I do that..? I m not rich enough..I am feeling frustrated that I dont know wht to do next. I have a current job, but this job has nothing to do with the field I chose. I want to gain experience but how since most hospitals now hire nurses for free or worst you have to pay them for hiring you. Where will I get the money to finance all these career investments. There are alot of nurses out there who are willing to give their best but are just limited to staying here in the country because they dont have the money to supportthemselves. If only there are people out there who are willing to give scholarship exams for those who are willing to be financed for work abroad. If only NCLEX and IELTS are just affordable that anyone could justtake it anytime. If only there are employers out there who are willing to finance the applicant for these exams. Free EXAMS... I wish there is.....

There are agencies that will cover the exams for you, but you will be reimbursing them at a rate of about $10,000 US per year for your contract. Add into it the fact that you will be waiting five years plus for a chance at a green card for the US, and it is going to be hard even to find some company willing to do this for you.

Most other countries are also going to require actual work experience as an RN before they will consider you.

Check out the Philippine Forum for what you can be doing, and best of luck to you.

Thanks for d advice:crying2:

Save your money in order to spend it in the nursing exams or agencies that you like. You can get your experience while doing a high earning part time job. Have two earning jobs then save more.

is not that easy as it may sound...but I am trying hard to move on and really find other alternatives...Like working abroad even with 0 experience. Hayst..... But thi is life....and we have to live in it

I suggest not to go out of our country without any work experience as a nurse. I know it so hard to find one but it will be harder to work abroad without any hands on experience.

Before me and my batchmates left for Ireland, there were some of them who had a problem on how were they going to pay our local agencies plus the pocket money they were going to spend for a month once we get there. You know what? As soon as we signed our contract and got our Irish visas, they were able to pay that amount before we left. Some of them borrowed money, some sold their things, property, etc. Once you are on that situation, there is no way you could stop. This is really where we can test our ability as a person.

Dont lose hope. Save money for the future then use them on your trainings. Once you have the experience, there will be more oppotunities ahead of you. Goodluck!!!

Chances of getting a job as an RN out of your country without any current work experience is just not going to happen. There are so many new graduates that there just are not enough jobs anyplace for them.

Every country is requiring the local license as well as experience. Going to another country as a care-giver will not give you the experience and actually make it harder for you to get a job later on as an RN, since the time spent does not count as nursing time since there is no license in the other country issued.

Even if you wish to go to the US, you are looking at five years plus for a chance at a visa, and we are expecting the US government to require experience; same as the other countries do.
