How do you study?

Published

Do you answer all questions first then read rationales after finishing that chapter/section? or do you answer each question read the rationale for that question before moving on to the next?

I do it on study mode. because I tend to retain better that way. Then at the end i read all the rationale. it is like double enforcement.

study mode from the cdrom, i guess i should have mentioned when studying from a book when rationales are all the way to the back of the book and not next to the question like saunders.

Whatever material I used, I answered 10-20 questions at time. Then I went back checking my answers and understanding the rationales both for right and wrong answers. I referred to the book or google for topics that I was weak. If you have time, do one more round doing the same thing.

I answer all questions before moving on to the rationales. I do this so I can time myself, and try to gain some type of "test endurance" because I get hungry so soon. LOL

I finished all the questions first, regardless of the #, and if it's in the book or cd, before I check it then take a break, then study the rationales.

LOL. me too thanks!

Thank you everyone for your input. I was just curious on how everyone studied. I am trying to do things differently this time around. Starting to nick and pick every little thing that I am doing.

○I did the Saunders calendar for a month and study the content. (1-2 hours a day)

○ I listen to Feuer Audio Nursing Lecture whenever I dont feel like reading. (you can download it for free, just Google it)

○Practice tests, 75-100 questions a day a month before (NCLEX 4000) (SAUNDERS).

○3 weeks before the test I purchased NCSBN 3 weeks course, i covered the q banks. Increased the numbers of practice questions. 100-150/ day.

○2 weeks before the test I keep on taking practice tests. and study my weak areas.

○1 week before the test, did some la charity questions. regardless of my scores i just read the rationales.

○i took the test last week,45 mins later, stopped @ 75 questions, (i was getting sick on my way home threw up in the car) did the PVT, got the good pop up. and yesterday i found out I passed. YOU CAN DO IT...GOD IS AWESOME ! :)

PS.

○ Have atleast 2 free days from reviewing. as for me i chose friday and saturday.

○And I told myself, NO REASONS TO FAIL. AND THOUSANDS OF WAY TO PASS!

doesn't matter which you do first. as long as you understand it.

thank you donkim for all the great pointers and congratulations! i'm reviewing saunders all over again like i haven't before. i did print out the calendar but revising it just a little. i am tryng to review pda along side saunders. i try to do the same content on both books at the same time so i don't feel like i'm jumping around. i also bought exam cram but haven't really used it, but planning to when i feel more stronger on content. planning to get the ncsbn 3wk review also but not until i schedule my exam. (can't apply to retake exam b/c i need a 30 hr remedial course as per njbon) i have a one week live review with feuer nursing coming up in 2 weeks as well..

you will pass!!!. i will pray for you. expect a lot of SATA questions. I had 20++ of those. good luck!!!
