I'm going CRAZY right now. I am taking the last of my prerequisites right now (Pathophysiology, Microbiology, and Physiology). I am making A's in every class except for Physiology. I received my second test back today and found out I made a 50! I don't know what to do; I mean I'm not stupid and I understand the class very well, but when I take her tests they seem to be nothing like what the book has taught nor is it anything like her review sheet. I study for this class more than any other, read every chapter before the lecture, do the review sheet which are 6 pages long, and study all the time.
She says her testing style is critical thinking, but the questions just don't make sense. If there's anyone out there who has had a good experience with this class and this kind of testing syle, please, please help me out. I will be so appreciative. By the way, dropping is something I will not do unless absolutely necessary. I say this because I already applied for Nursing School and should be starting in the Spring and the fact that I live off student loans and am already so much in debt that I can't afford another semester of not being in the program.
Thank you for your time!

I am right there with you...got a couple 50's myself. For me, I understand the CONCEPT of what I am learning, its all the different new words I can't remember when it comes to test taking. My teacher also tests on critical thinking and I thought I just needed to memorize terms....NOPE....I needed to APPLY what I had learned, and honestly...I didn't see that coming...probably why I have bombed some quizzes....
I did find some great web sites...http://quizlet.com/
I am half way through the semester and only now realizing that I have to study 2 ways....I have to remember terms AND also think WHY something does what it does...
Good Luck

It may be tiring but I used flash cards to learn the material because everything in physiology is a building, that is how I made it through.

It wasn't easy for me either. I took it along with micro during summer and it was hell for me. I went to professor for help and ask how I should study, her tests were all ciritical thinking. She doesnt want you memorize what it means, she wants you to understand it and know how to apply it. Its all ciritical thinking and I am just glad that she gave us a lot of examples in her lecture. I would learn from the mistakes you made in the past two tests. By now, you should have a pretty good understanding of how she writes her test, you would do better by understanding the concept and learn how to apply it. Try give her an example and that way you will know if you really got the material. Its tough!! best of luck!!
