Oh ok. Well, this may sound strange but I had a change of heart about nursing. I am going to pursue medicine instead because I only have 3 more chemestries to finish. So, what the heck.. I am going to apply to schools in the u.s. and caribbean. I still come up here because I love to interact with everyone.

Oh that is a hard question. Personally, I would go for the MPH since you are already a nurse then I would go for the msn, but if you have time I know a lot of people that do msn at a traditional school and the mph online at the same time. I believe whenever you finish that you will make an impact in both fields.

So true. I love what the field has to offer. I wish I would have done this degree straight after college. Oh well. So do you have nursing degree as well a MPH?

If your having reservation I would say apply to a traditonal school, because that will put your mind at ease. Make sure you apply to schools on that list because their a lot of schools that are equally as good but are not on that list.

Traditional schools are schools that are not online. Experience speaks for itself, there are a lot of dummies out there with higher degrees from CEPH accredited schools but are not competent enough to do their job. So, again it really depends on what you are trying to do. I know of a few people with director positions and they have degrees from schools online schools. For what I want to do, it really doesn't matter.

I hear what you are saying but all traditional schools of public health are not on that list, I can name several, so are we to say those traditional schools that are not on that list are not good schools. Bottom line, it depends on what you want to do with the degree.

I am finishing my mph at Walden,, what do you mean it is not accredited? I am finishing up my internship in May at a health department. Let me also add, that my supervisor at that the health department chose me the "online student" to be apart of a board of executives that make decisions on the health policies of a particular clinic in my city.

From what I have heard there are a lot of candidates, but you may be in that number just apply. I agree my first two years of college were not great, I was going through some things and my grades were effected. But, now I am finishing up my masters' in public health, so I have become very focused.

Environmental health because I love to see restaurants inspected and I have learned so much about foodbourne illnesses, I am just in shock how disgust people are when handling our food. Be careful because it doesn't matter where eat you can end up with a nasty illness!!

Well basically I choose to float between different departments in the health dept. I currently work in the environmental health depart, I basically go on health inspections of restaurants and pools. I also go out with lead inspectors to test homes for lead. I get to do hands on work with the lead inspectors. We go out and take samples from homes where children had tested for high levels of lead. I also work with the health educator. Her job is to educate the community on how to prevent various health issues. Her focus is now to go out to daycare centers and school and teach parents and teachers the proper way to install a car seat in a car.

I can only speak about the MPH aspect of your question. Public Health is a booming field and depending on the job you take the salary can range from 40,000-over 100,000. You can be a health educator, epidemiologist, health sanitarian, run a health department and hospital, public health nurse, statisticians and many other things. The program at Walden is challenging I have managed to keep a good gpa, the only thing that I don't like was having to find my own internship at my local health dept, that was a hard process. But, I am done in May praise the God!!! So, in retrospect I made the right decision because Walden MPH program is ranked number amongst online school according USA today. Feel free to ask me more questions

Yeah and I also saw that nursing teachers don't get paid enough to teach nursing so that also adds to the limited amount of students that can be accepted each year. So, at this point we have to wait and pray!! These schools need to start paying these people to teach their students!!
