A lot of the recent posts I've been reading are from new grads who can't seem to find a j-o-b or even get an interview. Is it really as bad as posters make it out to be? I usually find this site to be helpful and inspiring, but it seems that lately the more I read it the more scared I become of my future!
I'll be starting an ABSN program in the Fall, and want to be proactive to make myself an easy first choice to be hired in a sea of new grads in the metro NY area.
What makes a new grad stand out from the crowd?

Thanks GetErDone-- I am also starting my ABSN program in NY this coming fall, and have been freaking out about getting a job as soon as I graduate :) I'm glad to know others are on the same boat!
@juliaann - how far into the program did you start applying for jobs? I can't help but think that interviewers would not like the fact that I am applying for jobs when I am only halfway through the program and have not even taken the NCLEX..or would they like the fact that I am being proactive?
And I agree with everyone on networking, networking, networking all the way!!
