How to select between two hospitals in illinois?

Published

Hi All,

Firstly - Happy New Year to one and all.

Back in September while i was trying to obtain a nursing license in Illinois, you all were very helpful in sharing information and guiding me. Folks at ultimatenurses forum were helpful too.

I am happy to say that i have received my license and i have been subsequently offered a job at two of the state's reputed hospitals. Both are within 25 miles of where i plan to live.

The question is - how do i pick between the two hospitals. I have no friends or contacts in the state of Illinois that can give me personal insights.

If any of you are practising as a RN in Illinois, please give me some tips.

The two hospitals are - elmhurst memorial health center (elmhurst, il) and our lady of resurrection (chicago, il).

Thanks again.

Hi

I don't know how much I can help.

My Aunt was in El;mhurst, but that was many years ago. At that time, I thought it was a really good hospital, as far as care went.

My Mom has been in Our Lady five times this past year plus being in the larger Resurrection.

Our Lady gave her awesome care!! They are VERY good to the patient's.

I don't know about how they treat Nurses.

I work at Advocate ill Masonic Med Ctr.

I think we are very good plus we are a Magnet Hosp. Which means we treat nurses pretty good----so they say. I am happy here---I have been with Advocate for 38 yrs.

We have a really good Versant Orientation program--16-18 weeks.

You can PM me if you like

Hi Mary Ann,

I've seen a couple of postings from you regarding Illinois Masonic's Versant program. I've looked into the program a bit and have decided that I will be applying to Illinois Masonic when I graduate from Loyola in June. I would love to ask you some more questions about the program and about Illinois Masonic, unfortunately I am kind of new to allnurses.com and I don't think I can figure out how to pm. Could you e-mail me when you have some time at ........

Thank you,

Rebekah
