How to relocate to Canada??

Hi there. I am sorry to say that your husband will not be able to get a job in Canada without a bachelors degree. Also, you will have to take the Provincial board exam. Just so you know the boards in Canada are a two day affair like the old boards were here. And, getting a permanent nursing job can be difficult. The health care systems are taxed because they are completly funded by taxes and people can take a year long family leave and be guaranteed their position back. I hope that helps. I am a RN student right now and my husband is currently an RN with his associates degree. We are discussing moving to Canada in 2 years when I get my license and were wondering if anyone knew if we would have to retake a license exam or if our nursing licenses will transfer over to Canada. Does anyone know this answer?

Depends on where you want to go or what qualifications you have. If you are a nurse you would have to go through the regulating body of the province you wish to go through (to prove all your credentials), as well as through Immigration Canada. From what I have heard from other nurses, the process can take well over a year (much shorter for American nurses though).

I think the trick is to get everything ironed out before you relocate (ie gettting immigration, license and a job before relocating). There are agencies that can help you do the paper work. If you are planning on attending school, you are better off applying to a canadian school and going from there as oppose to graduating here and trying to complete your registrations and immigration etc.
