Don't underestimate any class while in nursing school! Allways be on top of your game and attack each class with the vengence because the exams are going to get more difficult. During mid-term more than half of the students in pysch were failing! I think it had a lot to do with the teacher - mine wasn't very helpful. I thought psych was easier than med-surg but didn't like the clinicals.
My advise for pysch is to do your modules and read the book. When in med-surg, I found the clinical companion more helpful than reading the Lewis Med Surg text book. It narrows it down to what you need to know - I used the companion instead of Lewis in 221 & 222 and did very well. The large Lewis book is very diffucult to read because it includes a lot of technical and advanced jargon that you don't need to know and it repeats itself over and over.
Hope that helps and good luck!

I thought psych was very easy, but then again, that is the field I would like to go into. The exams ARE tough, but everything is pretty straightforward. I do know that if you get placed at Botsford for clinical, you may have a harder time because it is geri-psych, so you won't get as many schizophrenics, etc..., but a lot of Alzheimers & dementia. Alot of people were afraid of psych, but there really is no reason to be. Let us know how you do.

I too heard that the class itself is easier than Med Surg but the tests are difficult.

Don't be fooled, 150 exams are HARD but easier to prepare for. I liked the fact that clinicals were laidback, no passing meds. You still have drug sheets to do but when you begin, you'll understand why students don't pass meds! Again, this class to me was a relief compared to 155 but don't blow it off, put just as much effort. Nothing in NS is easy but it flies by! Good Luck!
