Its hard for me right now I take the Nclex-RN in about 36 days. This will be my 3rd time taking the test. I hear that the hurst review is good as well as Kaplan and this is why retest takers have passed. I just do not have the financial means to spend that kind of money. I have been doing questions on Saunders and reading the contents. I even looked on youtube tutorials. I am giving my best but I feel like if I'm not able to take one of the reviews I will be taking the test again. I truly want to be able to finally say I passed the Nclex-RN. This is just one obstacle I have to cross. I'm just feeling a little discouraged right now. Anyone else feel like me? The crazy thing is that I was feeling so good about the test. I wasn't memorizing things I have actually figured out why do things happen so I can understand better. I believe I had to vent. I need to get back to studying. Thanks for listening.

I feel the same way sincere..I took it a few times an it even drained my savings..now I can't afford a review class anymore. It's just so hard to start reviewing when you don't know how, where and when to start. I have a few books..Lippincott QA, exam cram, Saunders 5th and priority and delegation. I dunno if I have go over those books again. .
I am feeling so hopeless..

you can do the ncsb 3 week review course for $50 - I know that isn't cheap/free, but it's the least expensive option for review, and it's from the folks who write the exam :)

I also felt hopeless after failing the exam the first time. I know I rushed it because I had a family situation out of my control, and I wanted to focus on that situation, and get the NCLEX out of the way. But that was not the best option at that time since I failed it after 202 questions.
The second time around I read with a purpose, to understand the content, the why and how. I took time to learn the meds by classification, since I realized that was one of my weak points. I also read the entire 2013 NCLEX booklet by NCSBN. I took notes on it, after all they suppose to write the exam, so I better trust their guide.
I was better prepared the second time around, but it took time and patience on my part. Only my husband knew a day before that I was retaking the exam. I was too embarrassed to let others know because the fear of failing again.
There is no way to learn everything and every little detail about diseases and medications, but a general knowledge, contraindications, and what is an emergency and what is not helped me alot.
When taking the exam think: What could kill my patient? Compartment syndrome on a cast leg I only have 5-6 minutes to act on.
A dysrhythmia: what is high priority? depends on the given answers, but remember ABC's.
Overall, if you believe in God, pray with faith. If you don't have faith ask HIM for it. Remember things happen on HIS time. In my case failing the first time brought me closer to my husband, we talked together about the exam, the preparation and the happiness after passing. I passed the second time, with 75 questions. I would be lying if I say it was easy, it was hard. The questions are out of this world.
Wish you the best.
