How often do you feel you compromise your PIN number?

I have been a RN for 21 years and have become increasingly disillusioned with what nursing is actually about and the fact to succeed or at times even to continue within this profession I must compromise my beliefs and standards of care; I was wondering how many nurses out there are feeling the same way? How many turn a blind eye to poor quality of care because of their mortgage payment or fear of reprisals from employers or other staff? I would appreciate any comments or words of encouragement, I was recently dismissed for raising concerns with authorities and am now somewhat regretting that decision due to the personal consequences.

I thought you are protected if you do something like this? I know many times I would complete incident forms on poor staffing or any other issues so there was a paper trail as well as complained to management
