Hi all!
Just wondering how much you were able to save before starting school. I'll have about 30,000 saved and I'm worried that will not be enough.

How much did I save? Not enough.
As far as your 30k, it depends what you're trying to use it for. It won't cover tuition. It'll help with cost of living and books, but even 30k won't last that long.

It all depends on your tuition, how expensive your taste is as far as what you're gonna spend on rent, car payment, etc. Plan out a budget with all possible expenses: rent, utilities, cell phone, car payment, car insurance, gas, health insurance, food, vet bills for any pets you have, vacation money etc!
Figure out your monthly budget, multiply by how many months you'll be in school. Then add in your tuition costs. Then add about $750 for the board exam cost. Then add about $3k (or more) as an emergency fund to this number; you may not be able to start working right away (credentialing can take a while), so you'll want to be able to have enough $ survive for a few months after graduation.
You will get enough loan money to cover tuition and "normal" living expenses. It's just up to you in how frugal you want to be to minimize them.

I made my budget prior to school starting listing all the factors "m1lkofamnesia, BSN, RN" said. Even though I saved up 50k and my husband is still employed, we will have to take out student loans toward the later half of the program.
