How much do nurses earn after all taxes are paid? Just curious!

Published

Hi, I'm a student who has only two semesters left..

This question can be straightforward.

If a nurse earns $80k annually, how much he has after all taxes are done?

I know taxes really depend on lots of personal things..

But just guess.. I'm really wondering!

Because many things do factor in--filing status, health insurance, HSA or FSA contributions, retirement contributions, state taxes (if any), deductions, additional withholdings--your best bet is to calculate what doesn't change for yourself.

7.65 percent for SS and Medicare taxes (on the gross amount).

Assume you are filing singly, 12% for the first $9526 to 38,700, then 22% for the next dollars up to 80K (on the gross amount)

Happy calculating!

Usually, 25-30% is taken out (Fed, State, County taxes, health insurance, 401K).

About half my paycheck goes to taxes, retirement, and insurance.
