How much should I review A & P before starting Nursing in the Fall?

Published

I'm just curious as to whether I should review A & P a lot before school starts this fall over the summer, or if having done well is sufficient for what's expected the first semester?

I'm an A student so I did well but I'd appreciate the take from people who have the experience.

Thanks!

I would enjoy the time you have and relax, chill etc . When school starts you will be learning in a different style. A&P was memorization, nursing class are how to apply the knowledge you have learned based on how the patient presents/signs/symptoms and what interventions. I know you are excited but when school starts your head will be in the books so just take care of your self. You are an A student so you have good study skills ...you will be fine in nursing school.

Specializes in MSICU.

I think there are as few topics to brush up on. Like the RAAS, having adrenergic receptors and what they control memorized, make sure you know acid/base pretty well, and how to do drug calculations. At least those are the topics that current nursing students have told me they use pretty much daily and are glad they had them down pat before starting! I am starting in the fall ? I am spending this semester as a TA for A&PII, mostly as a way to review for myself. And then I'll take the summer off. Excited to get started, but I know this is the calm before the storm (so to speak)!
