How much should I know before entering an LPN LVN program?

Published

I'm freaking out because I want to go to Dallas Nursing Institute in Texas but the LVN program requires you to pass the HESI 2 Test. So I downloaded study apps on my phone and I keep getting 70! Which is fine, I still have two weeks to study before I can actually go to Dallas to take the test (I'm moving from Oklahoma). My issue is I'm mostly misting anatomy questions. I barely remember the terms I learned in high school, I guess I just kind of assumed the classes would cover anatomy again and I'd be ok. Am I in over my head thinking I could get into this program? I though math would be my issue but supprisingly I didn't miss any of those practicing. And I've never taken physics in my life but it seems like common sense to me since I took chemistry and maths in high school. But my FAVORITE subject has me doomed! Please help !!!

We moved your thread to the Schools/Colleges forum for the best response. Good luck.

I don't know about the HESI exam. Nursing school will go over anatomy. I would keep doing the practice questions so you can learn the anatomy that is being asked. Is it body parts they are asking, things like dorsal, bones, nerves, etc. figure out what category is being tested and review that stuff. If you just have to pass to get into the school then just make it your goal to pass. You can get through nursing school but it's really challenging. It requires a large time commitment. I recommend doing it before having children and a full time job if possible. I was living at home when I went to nursing school. Challenging but doable. You need good study habits and recognize that your social life will decrease. You don't need to ace nursing school. You just need to graduate so you can take the licensing exam.

The program I just finished included A&P, but we could take it beforehand to cut off time from the program length. There are some colleges like New Mexico Junior College that offer A&P with lab online. I took it there because I could transfer the credits to OU for their LPN-BSN bridge program.
