I am thinking about getting my CNA license before starting prerequisites in CT. Is it even worth it? People have told me it's not because the pay is not much higher than minimum wage in that state. What is the starting salary and what does it normally go up to? Just not sure if it's even worth the 1000-1200$ course either and if I should just get a waitressing job. I did, however, want some actual experience.

Our CNAs make 15 dollars per hour and then they get a shift diff. I believe that's the average in CT. The rate of pay varies by town. We have a few nursing students who are CNAs and if I can, I grab them when I have a straight cath or a patient needs suction just so they can watch and ask questions. Once you start nursing school let the nurses on the floor know. A few of my fellow classmates were CNAs while we were in school and they got hired as nurses after they passed their nclex.
Also- in CT it's not a license. CNAs are certified.

It probably depends on where, however, I have lived in the northeast part of Connecticut most of my life and have found it very difficult to find a CNA job there. The Hartford area is a little easier to find work. You can always go to indeed.com and get an idea of what the pay and job availability in a specific area is.
sorry for the late reply, I am between Waterbury and BPT, would probably prefer to work in BPT. Thanks for the info
