How many times did you apply for RN program?

Published

Hi everyone!

im just curious, how many times did you apply before you got accepted to the RN program? Thanks

I applied and was waitlisted to my program three times before being accepted and only bc I switched to the evening/weekend program option. Otherwise I would have waited longer. I had a good GPA and some volunteer work under my belt too. Had I known better I probably would have went somewhere else and finished so much faster. But my education was great for a community college and cost a lot less in the long run even with waiting. I live in a rural state which a few large cities but I would say the majority of programs here either community college ADN programs to University BSN programs eventually accept the majority of applicants unless they have horrible GPA, or criminal record that could keep them from being able to complete clinics, get a job, etc. I also seen people denied after being dropped from other programs as Well, but that is usually if its been 2+ programs. And obviously some states and schools will be more competitive than others. Look up statistics in your area, amount of nursing schools/programs, acceptance rates, etc. And you will have a better idea for you as an individual.

I applied once. However, I applied to a program at an investor-owned school that accepted all minimally qualified applicants on a first-come/first-serve basis.
