How many schools did everyone apply to?

Published

I am wondering how many schools everyone applied to. I have heard that you should apply to 4-6 at least. I was thinking 3-4. Should I do more? I also read that it is okay to send more than the required number of references. That way if one is late in coming you have a better chance of getting them in a timely fashion. If they all do get there than that is fine and that grad schools don't really mind extra paper work. What is everyone's experience with these topics.

The more questions I get answered the more I come up with.

Specializes in Critical Care, Nsg QA.

I applied to two state schools (Univ. of South Florida and University of Central Florida) and was

accepted into both. No GRE required for the Nurse Educator track.

I applied to 7 schools as i'm from the UK and desperate to study in cali :/

3, but I wish I had saved my money and only applied to the two I was really considering - but everyone (all my professors) said that I should really AT LEAST apply to three schools, but they really recommended 6. My answer was that I can't *afford* to apply to six schools!

I'm applying to 3 schools, www.rodp.org (FNP), U of South Alabama (geriatric NP) and Frontier School of Nursing and Midwifery (FNP.)

Got my application in at one, and am about to send the others. I can't afford to apply to more than that, and it's a stretch to pay for 3 (though USA is only $35.)

Specializes in ER, ICU, Med/Surg, Pedi.

I'm waiting to hear back from the only school I applied to this far....Western Health Sciences Univ in California.

I have received an email stating that they are reviewing my application.

I want to call them so bad and see what is going on, but I guess I'll just have to play the waiting game.

I also applied to western university of health sciences and they re opened their offices today and said that they are reviewing applications this week.

What did San Diego say no about? What was the reason? I applied there too that is why I am asking.

To be honest i didnt ask them for a reason as to why they said no, as in their email they said that there top 130 applicant pool was incredibly competitive this year...i'm sure you'll be ok, they should be notifying people for interviews soon.

My top choice is Azusa Pacific EENAP program in San Diego..i really hope i get in :typing

Specializes in IMCU.

Southern Adventist University has a great program and it is not real well known other than in Adventist community. It is small, and very supportive. Option of FNP, ANP, Acute Care NP, and Nurse Educator. They will be starting DNP in 3 years I believe. I am just starting the FNP program this semester. I graduated there in Aug. 2007 with AN and BSN in May 2008. I love the school :yeah:and I am not Adventist. I did not apply any where else this time. Before starting nursing school I did apply to Vandy's direct entry program and was wait listed.:banghead:
