How many of you didn't pass the first try?

Published

Hello everyone,

I have been quietly reading all the posts you have written since my last, and I am very happy and relieved for those who have passed. In your posts you have said you all started together last summer and worked hard to pass, may I please ask now how many of you didn't pass your first try?

This is more of an unofficial poll for me since all I heard when I graduated was how easy the test was, and how most everyone passed the first try. I now know, that case scenerio has to be more in the minority now.

I appreciate this site and just wanted to be brutally honest with myself. Good future nurses are lowsy test takers

God Bless,

Jacel

I passed on my second time (recently) after going through the Mosby cd rom and my trusty notebook next to my computer. Everytime I ran across a new subject, rationale, etc. I wrote it down (no special organizatioanl manner) and whenever I went to pick my kids up or went somewhere, where I would have a few minutes to read, I would bring this notebook and review what I had written: It really worked! I am not the kind of learner that learns things in passing and this computer program really helped. It catagorized my testing, showed me where I needed more studying. I only wish I would have done it the first time around but as one of you had written earlier, I am so much more prepared analytically (critical thinking!) to go out on the floor and know what's going on and so ready to learn. It has given me a hunger to learn and now I really can't wait to work. One more thing, I think I value my license more than ones who passed it the first time..it has been a very humbling experience.

You go girl You can do it!

I disagree with the post stating people who don't do well on the test excel on the floor. I work with new grads. There is a difference between knowledge and skills. The ones who do not "do well" on tests, but excel in skills, reach their maximum ability quicker than the others, but they do not progress as well. They get stuck on prioritizing and time management and recalling scientifc data, but BOY! can they change a dressing. After a while you see the differences evolve. There is a place for all of us, including people who have more knowledge than skill, or vice versa. Be the best you can be.
