I have a choice between two programs. One offers 2 hors of lecture, 3 hours lab, and 8 hours clinical for a 1st semister student. More hours are offered as the student progresses in the program. The other is 2 hours (2 days) of lecture and 8 hours (2 days ) of lab/clinical.
I'm still trying to decide which one to attend.
Thanks,
I think it sounds like you're talking credit hours, which doesn't mean much for me. My first semester, I had 16 credit hours of nursing classes. Lab and clinicals were both part of my 4 credit Fundamentals of Nursing class. I was in lab for about two hours every week during first semester doing skills check-offs but that was the only semester with actual "lab" time. I was in clinicals once a week for 8 hours/day over 14 weeks. I was in lecture for about about 20 hours a week. I don't think amount of time in class should determine which school you go to. I think there are standards set that your school must uphold related to clinical and lab time. Tell us more about each school and program.
For this semester (and this is my first semester), we have 3 hours of lecture, 6 1/2 hours of clinical and 2 hours of lab time.
...and this makes it sound like my school is totally slacking off compared to the rest of you! everything is once/week. the lecture is on monday, the clinical is on tuesday morning and the LRC (lab) is on thursday.
this is just for one class, too, and it's 5 credit hours. The other nursing class is only 2 credit hours and it's a 2 hour lecture once/week.
