How many Excelsior Exams?

Published

Hi,

I just applied to excelsior. I am nervous, anxious and excited. I am not sure if I have the correct info, but I thought I saw that there are 8 exams and if you come into the program with a strong nursing/clinical background you can possibly skip the 1st two exams. Is there any truth in this. What can I expect? What type of materials do you use and how long is it taking for people to actually take the exams. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

You can waive the second exam (Essentials of Nursing Care: Health Differences) if you're an LPN. Otherwise you can usually count on having to do all the nursing exams ... the first is not often waived.

Everything else is highly individualized as far as how quickly you move through the program, and what sorts of materials you use. The best advice I can give you is to download the EC exam content guides from the publications section on the EC website and let that guide your study. Also, the EC practice exams are a great investment. Best of luck!! :)
