:nurse: It varies, the standard is 60 pts overall, or 50 on verbal. You are really testing against your peers. It is not a grade= clinical test. It is based on how well you do versus the others in your testing group. Sort of a bell curve effect. You must have Chemistry and reading done before you can sit for the exam. I suggest A&P also in order to do well. Good luck to you!

Specializes in I don't have much experiance yet..

Actually, it's at least a 50 in the overall composite score and if you are to score lower than 50 in that, you still have a chance if you score a 60 or above in Reading. That is how it was when I took it Feb of 2004. They say you are competing against the other students but if you have 300 students take the NLN and 250 score 50 or above in the composite, then that 250 is considered as passing the NLN. That still doesn't mean your in, though:uhoh3: The rank is what gets you your seat. The good thing is, DTCC's wait is slowly diminishing. Last semester they accepted 80 students(my 1st semester in clinical) and since it worked out well, they said they are going to continue to accepting that many students.
