How long do you have to work for a nursing home after free traing

Just a quick question. I thought I read somewhere that It was not legal for a nursing home to hold your license after free training through them. And if it is....how long do you usually have to stay with them?

I love the place where I am currently training but it looks like alot of my fellow students are going to run as soon as they can:scrying:

The home that trained me Request that you work at least three months after you get certified. Although, I am sure this varies by facility. No, they could not make you sign a contract, but their take on it is, if you are that kind of person to let them train you for free and then leave, well then, they did not want you there.

I worked for a state facility that paid for your CNA training, then had you sign a contract stating you "intended" to work there for a year afterwards. And, as I recall, the contract was to be signed at your interview, before you even started the job.

I had no problem asking the gals interviewing me just exactly what that contract meant, if they could hold me to it legally, etc. & they assured me no, it was just a contract of "intent" that they really couldn't hold me to.

If I had to guess, I would say that the only reason the contract even existed was to intimidate non-English speaking staff into staying.

if at all, they would make you pay back for the classes. Thats my best guess on that

There is only one nursing home in my area that provides CNA training (that I know of). I did clinical there and some of the ones who had trained with the nursing home said there was no rule stating that CNAs who obtain their license there must stay on, but several of them do stay for quite some time...
