How long will it take to receive elgibility in Ontario?

Published

Hello,

Anyone who applied for CPNRE / Practical nurse eligibility in Ontario? How long will it take to get an assessment/eligibility?

I am an RN from the Philippines. And also have a 4 yr degree in Respiratory Therapy.

I no hospital experience yet as a nurse so I am having apprehension if they will grant me a practical nurse eligibility.

A requirement for a bridging program I would gladly accept. But eligibility to sit for the exam will be way better.

Any help or comments will be deeply appreciated.

To Rogue:

What is the letter of direction? Does it mean that you have to have a bridging course? Is it different with eligibility?

My friend is an RN in Ontario already. They handle cases differently though, for my friend, she has BSN in the Philippines, but she's also a 2nd degree holder. She just submitted all her requirements, all her degrees with matching course description. They let her take the CRNE and she passed it already. No more bridging programs for her. Right now, she is working as an RN. She said she submitted all her requirements on April 2007 or 2008, then she get to take the exam on October the same year. BY the way, she was in Canada at that time when she was applying.

I'm also applying. CNO might handle my case differently, might take longer and so on, but I'm willing to wait because I'm working here in USA for now.

Oh! I dont send a course description. Did your friend work as a nurse here in the Philippines? What is her status in Canada at that time she submit her requirement? I dont know what will be the outcome of my assessment because eversince they are telling me that I will receive a letter of direction even if I am not yet assess by the assessor. Are they redundant of telling it thru e-mail that it is letter of direction and not eligibility?

Good for you, you're in the USA. For me, I am praying for a better direction. Which country should we be? I let the Lord decide for our life. Come what may. But honestly, I love going to Canada than US.

she was in canada at that time, married to a canadian citizen. she sent her course description even with her first degree. just make sure you send them complete documents and wait. send everything that you think will help you. waiting is really hard, even for me. right now i am preparing my papers for submission also to the college. i am more worried about my ielts exam because if you read the packet it says: you meet the language fluency requirement if you are registered and have practised nursing in one of the following countries* in the last five years: usa one of them of course. as i understand, i qualify already since i have been working here for one and half year. i don't really think they meant working for the whole five years. anyway, i plan to call them this monday to clarify this, because i don't want to take another exam.

An update about my CNO application,

I changed my application from RPN to RN assessment.

Good thing I changed it last april.

March 31 2009 - Sent application from PRC ( B forms) , School ( B-form) and A froms to CNO

April 22 2009 - CNO recieved transcript and Nursing course description

May 11 2009 - CNO created a file

May 29 2009 - CNO recieved Course description from first course. (BS respiratory Therapy)

June 10, 2009 - Called CNO , Practise agent advice me to wait!

Anymore update i will post it here in this thread..Hoping to get an eligibility. With god's blessing ofcourse.

My advise to you bonsai_25,

Have all your paperworks sent by the responsible parties on time.

I think from other post , the shortest time frame for RN assessment can be done from 4 to 6 weeks. (US educated RN). Maybe you could have yours done in that short period.

Good luck

That is what I plan to do. Right now I have to renew all my nursing license first before I send them my B-forms :p. I am also pursuing my immigration application at the same time so life is stressful at the moment haha.
