How long did it take you to get into your nursing program?

Published

I am at a community college taking pre-reqs. I didn't pass the reading portion of the CPT (super hard, btw) so I have to take a reading class and take the CPT again. After I pass I will be put onto the nursing list for the program. I will start Nursing 1. I will take the test this spring semester so I will be put onto the list at the end of spring. How long do you think it will take to get into the program? This isn't like actual nursing schools where it takes a long time to get in. My mom said it took her 2 semesters and she was starting Nursing 1. . so *crossing fingers* HOPEFULLY I will be in by next spring.

Long enough to get a second degree! I'm not kidding, after I had all my pre-reqs done I waited 3 years. But I had to take a class each semester to stay "active" on the waitlist so I just decided to get a degree while I waited. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. It can be pretty fustrating.

Where I live in Alabama as long as you have the science classes done with a C or better you can pretty much walk into the program. I am so thankful I live where I did not have to wait to go to school. I count my blessings everyday!

It took me 2 semesters to get into a nursing school. While waiting, I took extra classes that would beef up my GPA and were relevant to the nursing field i.e pathophysiology, medical anthropology, etc.
