How long did it take you to finish your prerequisites?

Hi everyone,

I am going back to school this summer. I will be attending Delta College in Stockton, CA. I was wondering how long it normally takes to finish your prerequisites full time vs. part time for your ADN. I do plan on transferring to get my BSN.

All told, it took me about 15 years to complete all my prerequisites. Of course, most of the prereqs were done during a previous stint in college and I graduated with a BS degree. Just counting the amount of time taking the prerequisites themselves, it took me right about 2 years to do it. Once I'd decided to pursue nursing, it took me 2 semesters, one class each, to get things done. It could have been done in 1 semester if I'd had the time. After that, while I was waiting for acceptance to a program, I took a couple more classes that helped things along, but didn't affect my standing for school purposes.

Being that I already earned a Bachelors, I was exempt from a lot of the "stuff" that some of my classmates had to deal with because I had already met graduation requirements, so all I was required to do was complete the program and I was done and had earned the ADN. BSN is on the horizon for me, but I won't get started on that for a while yet.
