If you don't hear back within a week of the interview, I would call them and ask about the status of your application. You can and should do that; that way they know you're still interested an pursuing the job.
I'm sure background checks take different amounts of time depending on your state and the thoroughness of the check they're having done. A week is a reasonable amount of time - and if they're still waiting for your clearance, they'll tell you and then you can ask how long you can expect to wait before hearing back.
In Oklahoma, I heard back 4 days after my interview. Good luck! I know how hard waiting is. :)
Good luck!
I waited 3 weeks before I got called back for orientation. I think the only reason I waited that long, was because the staffing manager was setting up a decent number of people to take the orientation at the same time. I had a class of ten. Staffing manager was waiting on all of my classmates background check before she gave us our date to start. Hope you don't have to wait too much longer!

Hi everybody!
I'm new to all allnurses.com. I've been reading threads on the website while in school. I'm a recently certified nursing assistant, and I just got my first interview on friday at a long-term care facility:yeah:. I think the interview went well. I did a drug test (which of course i cleared). And I passed my tuberculosis screening. The recruiter told me that as soon as she got my background check, she would call me. I forgot to ask her what is the average time-frame for the background check. Can any nursing home CNA's tell me how long background checks usually take for employment? How long did you wait (if you waited at all) for a call-back to schedule orientation? Any replies are appreciated. I cannot wait to get started! Thank you! :heartbeat
