Hi. How long is the longest anyone has heard of regarding the BON investigating a nurse? I just can't believe its been almost 4 yrs for me and I haven't heard a word since I self reported back in Feb 2016. Maybe they are wating to see what the attorney generals office does?? Ag's office tried to contact me once 3 months ago and they haven't called back after they left me a voice mail saying they needed to talk with me. I had my criminal lawyer call them back and they didn't answer to his voice mails. I hired a criminal lawyer back in 2016 when the DEA tried to charge me for prescription fraud- they never pursued anything. My lawyer said they didn't have enough evidence. I diverted, not prescription fraud. Its just aggrivating because I could have been in a monitoring program and be almost finished with it. I tired getting in to the Mississippi Recovery Nurse program but they never responded to me. I have remained sober, and I am working as a RN- I hope and pray this helps me!

Hey mississippiRN71 - If I were you, and have not heard from the board of nursing after all this time, I would send a registered/certified letter stating all the attempts you have made to conmunicate with them, state you are drug abd alcohol free, then give them a deadline - like 60 days. State "if I don't hear from you within 60 days of the date of this letter, I will consider the matter settled and continue to practice nursing within the state of ---". Put the ball in their court. I wouldn't want this hanging over my head for years. If they by chance respond, at least you will know where you stand.
I finally heard from them!!
My board order states:1) 500.00 fine2). 2 addiction courses 3). 24 months probation 4) chemical dependency evaluation - which I know I will pass since I’ve been sober a long time5) random urine drug/alcohol screens for 3 years 6) 3 signed AA meetings per week 7) Quarterly evaluations from my employer RN license will remain active and non-restricted as long as urine screens are clear . So I’m going to be ok! ??
My DON is very understanding and is willing to do the evaluations without any issues! I started to hire a lawyer but they are so expensive! I’m better off just paying the program

I would say if you have a drug or alcohol problem then get help but don’t tell the bon or disclose u are a nurse if you check into rehab. In the meantime I’d simply wait and keep working and saving should u get stuck in monitoring

No notification of a complaint supposedly sent to BON made against me from a job I resigned from back in end of 2018. Was informed from old job it was going to be done through a written complaint. What should I do now????????????
All you can do is wait . If the BON has a complaint against you , you will know - they will call you or send you a certified letter. They called me within 2 months after the complaint and I met with an investigator without a lawyer - I would not advise that! Get a lawyer! I had already spilled my guts at rehab or I would’ve hired one . It takes forever for them investigate but the actual notification of a complaint doesn’t take long . What did they report about you?
It has been about eleven months.
Gotcha , well you probably have nothing to worry about
Ok,? thank you.
