How likely is it for a Canadian nurse to work in New York City?

Hi, I'm a Canadian nurse with few months of experience under my belt. I was wondering: what are my chances of landing a job in new york city? I heard the nursing market is saturated there but still remain hopeful.

Probably unlikely if you're a new grad. The market is saturated with local nurses and you have no experience.

Consider applying to NY when you have two years in a specialty.

What about Hawaii and California? I have heard they are saturated as well, but still remain hopeful.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but same deal for Hawaii and California. Good pay, sunshine, beaches. If you have experience in a specialty, sure. New grad? Not likely.

California has a strong union also, which makes the state attractive for foreigners. These areas have plenty of local nurses who cannot find employment.

I realize the schools still inform Canadian students that they can work in the US. Prior to 2008, it was much easier to find work for everyone, but not anymore.

Come to rural SE Texas....you can go to work tomorrow at Christus a Jasper hospital.... Location, location, location.....
