Hi everyone, I start my ASN in Sept. and I was wondering if those of you with kids could share with me when you study etc? I won't be working so I won't have to worry about that. Thanks!

Do you have a spouse, or BF/GF family? Anyone that can watch them?? I have 4 kids and no matter how hard I try, I can not study when they are home. I already told my husband that when I start in the fall that even though I might not have class or clinicals I will stay at the school or library to study because I won't be able to do it at home.
I don't have any family here and my friends aren't in the same town so I don't really have any other option then that unless I hired a Babysitter so I could leave to study. I don't work either and my sons are all in school but I have a just turned 2 year old daughter during the day.

Now that I'm not working its pretty easy actually. I have 3 kids (14 yr old homeschools, 1 and 3 yr olds in daycare). Husband takes them in with him in the morning and brings them home with him at night. I try to look at school as my "job" and during waking hours after they leave and before 5:30pm, I am studying. Most of the students I am in school with are always taking breaks and thats fine for them, but I am pedal to the metal from sun up til either I get home at night (2 nights a week I am in school late) or until hubby and the kids get home. It keeps my weekends from being overwhelmed with schoolwork and if I do have to study we generally split the kids up and I will take the 3 yr old and my husband takes the 1 yr old into a seperate area of the house so that I can study and be there for her (mostly during commercials). Its doable. We dont have much in the way of outside activities because of the area we live in, but kids are flexible as long as you make some time for them somewhere in your day.
Thanks for the replies. Actually my ex lives with me and the kids (odd, I know but it works) so I have his help. But, I also tend to approach school like work and I do the majority of my studying during the day as well and I plan to do extra lab skills practices during that time too. I can study at night, ok. I can tune them out for the most part but I do prefer to study during the day. Thanks again!
