How do I work in the UK???

Hi everyone

I am a US nurse with 8 years post grad experience but am very keen to work in London to get some overseas experience and travel!! Does anyone know how I go about getting my registration, how difficult it will be, approx how long the process is and any general comments about working in the UK would be appreciated. I have heard some such horror stories about the NMC and the NHS.

Lots of issues, You have to complete the NMC requirements of foreign trained nurse and complete English exam and ONP. Then you have to find an employer and unless you are highly experienced in an area classed as short then you will find problems finding employer willing to assist with work permit as currently requirements of employers is employ citizen first then EU before the rest of the world. Also to add many nurses including newly qualified are struggling to find work in the UK.
