I would like to do homecare nursing on my own. I am just not sure where to begin
Hello msdee1226,
I know this is a very old thread, however I love your response and I am in the process of trying to start my own Home Care company here in MI. How do I obtain clients? What helped you? Being in the medical field will make it a little easy to find coworkers to work for me...but how do you obtain your patients/clients? I'm lost on that aspect of it. Can you please offer me any help/advice at all? Thank you so much in advance for your time. Any insight would be so greatly appreciated. By the way I am an LPN if that matters at all.
Thanx again,
Twinkle*
Hi Twinkle,
I am so excited for you and your new business. Have you had an opportunity to create a marketing plan? Make a list of 10 to 20 Assistant Livings and Nursing homes in your area and start to build relationships with the ones you like. Previous owner of a Homecare so I understand where you are. I will be offering a webinar "Starting A Homecare Business" your welcome to join.
This is all very interesting to me. I live in Texas and have had a pediatric patient for the last 4 years. She has now gotten well. She is still with me often but i'm going back into the job world soon. My mother in law is an RN, her brother is a Dr. and I'm an LVN, my youngest daughter is an LVN and my oldest is a Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) who just started her first job. One would think with all the medical people we have we could start up a companion company. While I and my daughters live in a rural area, my mother in law and her brother the dr live in densely populated areas and know tons of people. I just am not sure how to find out enough info on this to present to my MIL and the Dr (if he's even necessary) to get this off the ground. I'll be following to see what future posts show up.
Thanks and have a great day!

Actually if you explain to the carriers you are working independently (especially as an LPN) the cost is much higher than $100. In my state it's $500-700 as you have no coverage from an employer
