How I passed NCLEX at 75

Published

I have learned so much from allnurses, and I told myself that I'd share how I studied. That way, I can also be of help to others. I'm a December 2015 ABSN grad and did my NCLEX-RN in mid February. My exam shut off at 75. I practiced over 100 questions per day.

I signed up for UWorld three weeks prior to graduation. I also got La Charity PDA and Saunders NCLEX-RN Q&A access codes (because I was able to select the type of questions I wanted to do – eg SATA etc.). These were the main resources I used. My school gave us NCSBN for free. But due to time constraints, I only did about 1/3 of the questions at the end of course. I also downloaded the UWorld app to use when I was away from my laptop.

I cannot say enough about UWorld. I did all the questions, and repeated my incorrect questions (I was left with about 300 or so incorrect questions). I also liked UWorld because I was able to select questions from subjects I was weak in and wrote down information from rationales. It also built my critical thinking skills.

I also used the 35-page NCLEX I found here on allnurses.com. It was very helpful.

I believe in a higher power and wrote a few religious verses on a sheet of paper for encouragement. Believe in yourself and the higher power that has brought you this far. During the test, if you feel anxious (I think this happens to most of us when taking NCLEX) do breathing exercises. The last thing you want is to rush through the questions (especially at the beginning). You can do it!
