How do I obtain a RGN course transcript?

I am new to the group. I am a RGN (qualified '94) & RN (child, qualified 2001). I have worked in the UK in adult ICU, then PICU, and I have just left a child protection nurse specialist post to move to Vancouver, Canada with my husbands job. I have been in the process of registering with the RNABC for 6 months now and as part of the process they require a transcript of my original nursing programme for 1990-1994. Unfortunately as I did traditional training in the old 'school of nursing attached to a hospital' I think my school has now since become part of a university as the school of nursing does not exist. The NMC have been very helpful in providing the all the information they have but it is not enough and the RNABC will not proceed until they have some form of proof that my qualification comes up to their standard. Can anyone help? Where can I get a copy of my transcript? Can I get anything else to provide them with the info they need?I am going to have to turn down a very good teaching position with the university of BC if I don't sort out the registration soon.

The "old" school of nursing should have transcripts stored at the hospital. Try contacting the department of nursing education there, at the hospital, or the medical records dept. and see if they can help you. That is what is done in the US. Otherwise, I believe in the U.K. that it is the responsibility of the NMC to keep these records.

Good luck.........................

I qualified in 88 and did conversion course in 97, I was lucky when applying for my transcripts that the university where I did my conversion course had a copy of my transcripts from the hospital where I did my EN training. But the university did say that when the school of nursings was transferred to universities they initially recieved all transcripts from the schools but due to shortage of storage space all transcripts went to NMC and became their responsibility.

Hope you get something sorted.
