How do I get a job?

Published

hi fellow nurses!

would you help me with this concern of mine?

i am a foreign student taking up paramedic here in alabama. last month, i sat for the nclex-rn for california and passed it in one take. i also passed the registry for emts last januray. i just received my rn license last saturday and now i want to start my nursing career right away and get converted from student f-1 visa into working visa or green card.

do you know how i can get an employer and work out my work visa or green card? i am having a hard time because i am staying here in alabama but i want to practice in california.

by the way, i graduated bs nursing last march 2007 in the philippines and i do not have much experience except for my clinicals in college and paramedic school and being a volunteer student nurse.

thanks in advance and i appreciate any information that you may have!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

The issue you have is retrogression and no visas to convert to and this has been ongoing since Oct 06 with many nurses affected regardless of country. No idea how long this will be ongoing but currently hard to find employers as looking at a few years before getting visa to work
