hey roxxy3773. I was at USAjobs and most jobs do require the one year experience, but I am sure they do consider new graduates depending on what kind of background you have. I have a friend that is currently a new grad who is trying for a position in NICU with no experience.

A friend of my told me to tweak my resume on the website to say things that are similar to the job description. This will help in the selection for candidate process. I am not so sure if this is true, but I will definately keep that in mind.

Well I dunno what else there is to do, but I wish military hospitals were new-grad friendly. I know they tend to hire military spouse, but I dunno. Seems like they rather have experience or else you gotta be enlisted.

I have applied to several positions for Tripler they require for you to be very specific in your resume. Then they email you to tell you that they have received it and whether or not you are qualified . If you are qualified then you have to wait until the position becomes officially closed before they make a decision. I have heard it takes about 4 months from time of applying to the date where one would actually start to work.

They site says you get preference if you are a military spouse and to turn in supporting document for this, does anyone know what paperwork this is?

Hi mzlilly and others.

I met up with a nursing recruiter from Tripler and I read up more on the the current Tripler positions carefully. They are looking for nurses with more experience. A BSN RN is considered a GS04 pay grade, but they are looking for a GS06 or higher pay grade which is one year experience or graduate student. I am not so sure if I can get hired as a new graduate at Tripler, but I tried for a nursing assistant for now. The recruiter going to put a word for me and says they do "direct-hire" first. I hope to hear good news, but I keep trying as well.

When I did apply for all the positions I did, I always submitted my social securtiy and a copy of my spouse privledge card that has my social security and my husband so they know that I am a military spouse.

According to the VITALS website which is where you can check the status of your application, my application for the nursing assistant position makes me "qualified" and I just need to wait if anyone wants to consider my application. I would really like to get into the government/military hospital just in case I PCS, so it could be easier to transfer to another military hospital. It just sucks trying to get in... hopefully if i can get in as an aide, I can get consider as an RN through direct hire ;)

Thats great info to know i have applied as an LPN in order to see if I can get hired for an RN position as a direct hire. im also considred qualified but amyet to hear anything hope it goes well for you too.
