Hello everyone!
So, Ive been trying to figure out a plan. I see everyone around here recommending that a nursing student get as much experience as possible. But how? How did you all do it while also taking classes? Did any of you not have any experience and still get accepted into a nursing program?
Ive wanted to take CNA courses or work/volunteer at a hospital but i cant find the time. Well, i CAN but i rather devote that extra time to my pre-nursing classes to get the best grades I can. So what would you all recommend I do? How do you deal with this dilemma? Did you completely give up your social life and become a hermit during this time? Any advice??
Thanks!
I'm taking my pre-requisites and volunteering at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital. I told my volunteer coordinator about my situation with my time and studying. I get to now have 2 four-hour shifts a week that are consistent and I get to come in when ever I want to gain extra hours! I'm starting to get really close to all the nurses and I love it! So in my opinion I think you should just talk to your local hospital! Hope this helped! :)
Can anyone tell me what it's like to volunteer at a hospital? I'm really excited. I haven't heard back yet and I'm wondering how it works. Do I get placed where ever they need me or do I start somewhere like the gift shop and work my way up? I'm worried that I won't get to work near the patients and medical staff. Id love to hear everyone's experiences. I can't wait to start.
I went on the website for one of the hospitals in my area and am excited to volunteer! They have a Paws for Patients program to bring pets to patients in an effort to help make them feel better. I LOVE pets so I am hoping I get placed in this program. They are currently looking for volunteers for it. Hope you get placed in maternity, LaceElaine. So glad you posted this :)
