I am currently working in a county jail as a PRN/Rn and am looking for a full-time position. Right from the start I have had difficulty looking for JUST jobs in correctional facilities (CFs). I have tried numerous key-words such as: jail nursing; prison nursing; corrections etc. and have found jobs mostly by accident. Any suggestions on how to zero in on just positions in "CFs".
Thanks, ripley

I am a former County jail RN, recently heard there are a lot of needs in the California system but it is contract work pays well if you live there or must travel. judah

Here in Salt Lake City, they are always hiring at the jail and the Utah State Prison in Draper. As a matter of fact there are several jobs open for RNs out at the prison. Check out the Utah State Gov website

Tell me more. I lived in California for a long time and miss it very much. I am currently living in the midwest for family reasons, and am thinking that contract work might be a solution for spending time in both places. Have you heard of any specific agencies or correctional facilities I could contact, or were you maybe just passing on general information? Either way, thanks for responding.Ripley
Ripley, Did you find the info you wanted?
I am in corrections in Louisville, originally from NorCal. I found the LA county corrections system to have some awesome programs! including working towards a BSN program withIN the system!!!
