How do I find a CRNA to shadow?

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello,

I decided about 4 years ago to become a nurse. So, I took the necessary pre-requisites and applied to nursing schools. After gaining admission to an accelerated program, I set out to get an internship while in school. Luckily, I got the internship....with the intention of leveraging this internship into an opportunity to work in the ICU upon gradaution. And it worked! I am now working in MICU/SICU. Orientation was brutal but I survived it. So, I am now trying to build relationships in order to put together a solid application package for CRNA school. However, I am having difficulty building relationships and have not had a chance to meet any CRNA's at my hospital. So, how do I find a CRNA to shadow?

Thanks!

Call down to the OR or the anesthesia department at your hospital and tell them that you would like to shadow a CRNA.

Agreed. Most hospitals where I live don't allow shadowing unless you already work there, so just call your anesthesia dept and explain what you're looking for. Alternatively, if you know any MDAs well (if they cover "critical care issues" in your unit) talk to one of them about it. Good luck!
