I'm wondering what I'd need to do to get school covered. I'm planning to start the BSN 2nd degree program at OU in Jan of 2010. I'm currently an Engineer.
Is it possible to hire in for that year as an aide workign only Sundays or something, and get the school covered if I promise to work there for a cuople years after I'm a nurse? I'd love to know how much I'd need to work in order to get school reimbursement.
And then of course, there's health insurance. I have to find a way to get that covered (I'm hoping by being a part time employee there I could buy coverage through the hospital).
If anyone can share insight, that'd be great. Ideally, I'd like to work for Oakwood Southshore or Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte (formerly General Hospital...I was born there hehe).
Thanks people...

I did this. My work has a program they offer kinda like that. They pay for books and tuition plus a stipend. They cover benefits while youre in school and are very generous in doing so. I have to work there 3 years after I am done and they only cover asn and not bsn. Very good deal just call HR and ask them if they have a scholarship program or tuition reimbursment program of any hospital you are considering working at.

Some hospitals will "forgive" the tuition and expenses you paid after you have actually graduated and sign on with them for a committment of so many years. St. John does this. So whatever you do, keep all receipts for books, uniforms, supplies, and tuition in a file somewhere; you may get all that money back in the end :).

This is just for the actual nursing program not the pre-reqs correct?
I am not sure.
