How get past dept chair for BIO 226 at Truman?

Published

Hi everyone,

Truman won't sign me up for BIO 226 until I talk to the department chair. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach him/what might get him to give me the okay?

I haven't taken Biology since high school, where I aced it. I'm brushing up on a biology text now, and I'm an EMT. I'm not worried about my ability to handle the course.

Any tips on jumping this hurdle??

Thanks!

I live in the suburbs. Yes, for COD you need only A&P I and chemistry to apply.COD uses a points based ranking system, so the more classes you take, the more points you will receive towards your ranking. Most people will choose to complete their pre- and co-reqs prior to applying.

I already spoke with one of the nursing instructors regarding taking or not taking speech. She had told me that students with bachelor's degrees are exempt from taking speech, English (composition), math, and humanities. However, we can choose to transfer in any or all four of those classes to use towards our points ranking.

I will not be taking speech!! :) My university gave students the option of taking either speech or writing freshman year. I chose writing.

That's cool that you don't need that many prereqs to get in...I'm not in the district though so I doubt that I would get in! Is COD the only school you are applying to? I'm applying to CSU, Wright, hopefully Morton College, Triton, and Prairie State. lol
